There's better things to focus on
There are infinitely better uses of your attention and energy than obsessing about yourself.
What kind of life is one where you're relegated to being the writer, director, actor, sometimes critic, and sometimes marketer of a highly-produced "self"? It's all-encompassing and exhausting. And inaccurate.
Worse than that, it's pointless. Worse still: counterproductive to happiness.
Most tragic of all, it limits your ability to have a positive impact on those around you, who must take a back seat to your self-concerns.
Is there an alternative? Yes!
It's possible to actually have fun in your everyday experience. To feel real joy and gratitude about simply being alive. To be genuinely excited at the chance to spend another day with the ones you love and pursue what moves you.
Given the right orientation, it's not only possible, it's natural.
Orient toward experience, away from self-centered thoughts.
